Hello all,
This is from a potential customer.
It is a 1ST 656 from late 1961.
I cannot find a 1ST 656 in all the catalogs.
Ideas on the model and the amplifier chassis ?
Thanks !

2-ST656 is a Symphony-American Provincial. It looks more like a 2ST655, Symphony-American Traditional because the bottom of the front looks straight to me. Either way it should sound very good after redoing it.
Should be a 9300 series amp.

Re: What Info on this Maggie ?
That is a version of the Symphony. It would have the 93-series amp with 6BQ5 P-P output. Eight cone speakers with 15" side-firing woofers. Mine is the 1ST655. It would have two 4" speakers, a 5" and a 15" per channel. IMHO, the Symphony was top of the line for Magnavox if performance is considered. The little Imperial would be the next step up, with a 4" longer cabinet and with horns replacing the six smaller cone speakers. The Symphony series was the only Magnavox stereo with eight cone speakers. Magnavox also used the Symphony speakers in one version of the Stereo Theater.
IIRC, the 656 should be found in the 1961 Magnavox catalog, posted in Downloads. On page 35, listed as the 2ST656, but it's the same instrument. I thought this was the model with factory MPX, but that starts in the little Imperial series. It would have been optional in this one, mounted with the two bottom bolts that holds the tuner chassis.
Somebody has broken or removed one of the factory "heavy paper" wire hangers that is on the divider that holds the tuner chassis. That lets the wiring lay on the hot output tubes.

The Symphony you posted also has FM-AFC, a huge advantage to help prevent FM drift. Mine doesn't have that. Yours would be a later model than mine.

Re: What Info on this Maggie ?
Thanks guys for the info.
It confirms what I had found in the
catalogs: a 2ST 655 / 656, since all the
components appeared similar.
I agree the cabinet appears to be a Symphony-American
Traditional.
I also noticed some record changer parts in
the changer bay.
It looks like the idler wheel and mount.
I hope they didn't come off the Micromatic, or
that nothing else was taken off.
Safe holiday time to all.
