What is the AM/FM radio chassis number for this Magnasonic,

which would be model CP292B ?

I have the power amp chassis #, but not the radio chassis #.

Thanks.

I do not, do you have any photos of what's under the hood?

Do you have the tuner out of the cabinet? Sometimes, they paste a sticker on the underside of the chassis with the number on it.

is the amp model AMP169AA?... they were used on Magnavox , Sentinel, and Sparton brands , so it is possible the radio could be one of those manufacturers

The amp is 142, mono.

There was no number visible on the chassis.

Radio is in the cabinet, won't be pulled anytime
soon as this is one of the recent Finds I put
away in the garage for future restoration.

I was hoping the Magnavox experts would have
an idea of what was put in the 1956 era units.

You can review the photos I posted over at "Finds".

It's almost impossible to "memorize" what components go into the various series of instrument that Magnavox built in any given year. They were known to build what people were willing to pay for, so there are "anomalies" that exist. The good thing about that is that many of the components were similar enough that you don't need an exact schematic in order to service them. A picture of what you have might lend clues enough to get you on the right track when that time comes. :D

I have a '56 Magnasonic but mine is phono-only. I'm not at home right now so I can't check my Sams copies, but those often mention the model nos. of the related chassis. If you can find the Sams online it might have what you seek. Otherwise I'll try to remember to look when I get home.

Thanks for the looksee Chris.

I used a flashlight and found the tube line up
sticker for the radio chassis.

I hope that helps you guys figure out what
chassis this is.

Mr. Mogul. I have looked at every tuner related schematic that is posted in the downloads and I do not see any reference to your tuner. This one is a mystery, and I hope someone out there can help find the schematic you are looking for. If not, there is always the chassis number when you get around to the rebuild on this unit.

I looked last night and my Sams is for the no-tuner model only. My '56 Provincial Serenade has a tuner/preamp that is very similar in tube complement to yours. but with one additional tube labelled "phono preamp." It's a CR-230AA. I tried to post this last night but it did not show up so I must have missed the "submit" step, a frequent mistake.

Thanks for looking, Chris.

Excelsior, I found it !

I counted the # of tubes and went over to
Radio Museum and opened up manuacturer :
Magnavox.

I then set the year model to ascending and paged
through to the early 1950's.

I kept looking for some radio description with 8 tubes,
and there it was.

CR-712AA Sams 316-9 from 1956.

The tuner panel in the Sams photo orients horizontal, while the
Magnasonic has it vertical.
There are 5 same dials and 8 same tubes as the Magnasonic.

I'll confirm it all whenever I get someone to help me
pull the radio chassis later on.
