There was a time when I tried to buy the Strohs brewery 16 ounces at a time. I liked the dark lager beer.

I like beer but can't have alcohol, so it's non alcohol beer for me It's ridiculous getting age checked to buy it at 67.

I'm a fan of Beer too but limits are needed that did not exist for me before. German and Cz ancestry guarantees I am an aficionado. I collected cans in the 70s and even stale beer smelled good then, years before I was actually able to enjoy it.

So many ways to enjoy great tasting beer now than ever before and that includes non-alcoholic versions which use different yeast. My preferences are the Real Ales found in UK, these are not potent but the complex flavors and varieties hooked me so much I began homebrewing (1991-2006) to get the fresh approximation of that at home.

When I moved from city to country, my well water did not produce the same great results, due to nitrates.

I had an uncle when I was little, who made his own beer and sauerkraut. He and my dad would hold tastings when we would come to visit.

My grandmother would think you were for sure "going down below" when you died if you had a beer can laying in the bed of your pickup, but considered the jug of white liquor she kept under her night stand as a product of the farm..... ;)

I have never grown a taste for beer, but a really good smooth whiskey is another story. Unfortunately, my aging stomach does not tolerate that right along with a lot of foods. I can either take or leave whiskey, but I sure miss foods that I loved.

I don't care for moonshine. It's too "hot" for my taste. I couldn't afford good whiskey, but liked a good scotch when somebody gave me some. I got to drinking beer from a guy who drove truck for me. He was a biker and his "club" all drank dark lager, mostly Stroh's. He invited me to their "club house", little more than an abandoned chicken coop, where they would have a keg of Stroh's. Fallstaff was also popular with the bikers. They were cheap, bitter beers, but I didn't know they made anything better. I don't care for light beer.

I have a friend that likes that beer, and I have no idea why it's not sold in Michigan which is ok for me cause beer is not my thing.

Long ago, when the '69 4-4-2 was my daily driver, I attended a conference over in MN. I took the car ferry across Lake Michigan and headed west. At that time, all you could find in MI were ordinary national beer brands. I was surprised to find a bunch of local brews in WI so I bought a bunch of different ones and hauled them home. This was long before craft brewing and after Michigan's local brands like Sebewaing Beer had been bought up by majors and closed. Old Michiganians may remember the flying-pheasant logo for Sebewaing.

Now I'm surrounded by fancy brews--we must have 20 craft brewers within a 40 mile radius-- but health, common sense, and such limit me to a beer once in a blue moon when eating out, maybe. And my visits to restaurants are in the single digits/year lately.

I'm not a big beer fan but my favorite was Rolling Rock before budweiser bought it and changed the formula or water or whatever.

Yuengling is like a local brew here. So is Stegmier. "Imports" were Utica Club and Pabst!!!
