Free germanium transistors
I have a supply of germanium transistors I'll never use. I will list them and offer them free of charge except for shipping to members of the forum. I haven't tested them. If I don't get any takers, they go to the landfill. I can't keep stuff I'm not gonna use.
2N3612, Motorola, 2 each
2N458 Clevite, 1 each
981, Sylvania, 1 each
2N326, Sylvania, 2 each
2N155, Sylvania, 1 each
2N 3766, Unknown, 2 each
2N627, Motorola, 2 each
2N2832, Motorola, 5 each
2N2826, Motorola, 2 each
4J2267, Motorola, 2 each
2N1557, Motorola, 1 each
DTS 702, Delco, 1 each
2N174, Delco, 1 each
1642836 Delco part number, some marked Motorola, 9 each
I have several other smaller transistors coming later. I should have dumped this stuff after the auction, but the old "somebody will need this someday" theory won the day. I need to make room for stuff I still need. If you can use this stuff, I'd love for someone to have it who could get some good out of it.

Don't start dumping until I can get home and consult schematics to see what my older gear uses. I've got a couple Heathkits that may need some.

Last call, guys. I need to get rid of this stuff. If you can use it, let me know.

Re: Free germanium transistors
The best version of the TO-3 PNP Ge transistor was the NTE179. Second best to use is the NTE121. Check my Fisher Warwick post.
I will look these up and post the NTE number next to them, which should help standardize them into categories.

Thanks, Dave. I hope somebody can use the ones I have.

Re: Free germanium transistors
I just brought a small filing cabinet back from my mom's house so I can put the collection of schematics and manuals in a searchable location. They have been in a big box on the bottom of a pile. I'll check to see what I need for the Heath amps.

Re: Free germanium transistors
I just PM'd another member who said he'd take them. I said that none of them match my Heath transistor numbers, so he should take them all and keep them out of the landfill. But if any remain un-taken and are actually headed for the trash, I'll send postage.

Re: Free germanium transistors
I haven't heard from anybody yet. It would be great if one of you could use them. And, yes, I was dead serious. If you guys didn't want them, they were going. I know making a statement like that is a scare tactic common in our hobby. I kept too much stuff that I should have sold at the auction. I can't keep what I'm not going to use in a reasonable amount of time. The wife and I have decided it is actually cheaper to buy new than to keep stuff around and try to remember where we put it and to keep it organized.....
