Here's a Maggie for sale on Facebook. I'm not the expert, but this looks like a "Little Imperial". Anyone out there know for sure?

I'm guessing a late Symphony, maybe a 1962? Looks like it has horns. The cabinet is not long enough for being a little Imperial. Definitely a six-knobber. It's worth saving and for sure worth $60.

Looks a lot like the one I have ... and the paperwork I got with it calls it a imperial, has push -pull 6BQ5 outputs I think mine is from 62.

That is the old Symphony cabinet. They used it in '63 on an Astro-Sonic model as well. Did they put the Imperial in the Symphony cabinet in '62? The mesh grills over the speakers were unfamiliar to me. 1962 was an interesting year for Magnavox. We ought to start a thread on the 1962 models along with pictures. What say ye?

OK looking closer at the pictures... it is identical to the one I have , has 15" woofers and 2 horns at each end ... I got the MPX chassis for it but it needs to be adjusted ,the stations are snowy when it is turned on stereo... The model is 1ST6620S cherry... it is in the 61 brochure and it is called the Imperial-Normandy retailed for $550 back in the day.

I have a little Imperial on my bucket list. Have you gone thru the MPX chassis? There are a couple electrolytic caps, made in one unit, that cause problems if they aren't replaced. Do you have the two tube or the three tube MPX chassis?

been a while since I had the back off... but I believe it is the 2 tube model... I read somewhere about a 4uf that should be replaced, but like most other things have not got to it yet... one of these days ...

Replace those and the 30uf electrolytic in the can. Clean the tube sockets REALLY well and sub the tubes, if you have spares. Clean the function switch if you have added the MPX and it was not factory. I've never had one that didn't work at all, never had one that worked 100% correctly when I got it, either. I've never had to align one. The problems with Magnavox MPX are many, but minor.

Elton, if your two tube MPX is like my two tube MPX, it will need the electrolytic can replaced and the two little electrolytic caps under the chassis replaced. Tubes need to be tested or replaced too. Once I did that to mine, it came alive and works great. It actually made the radio in my Maggie Symphony one hot sounding radio. Good luck!
