Pretty clean, complete SK14 with the tuner section and companion speaker. Belonged to the town dentist in middle of nowhere Indiana. It's had a recap and changer service & performs great.

Good ole' Motorola. They were smart using VM changers.

This is a great example of Motorola's best work in the 2-channel stereo category, with Jensen speakers and OPTs the size of the bass channel OPTs on 3-channel stereophonic models. Chassis HS-696 amp and HS-709 preamp.

These two cabinets can be positioned 6-10 feet apart, providing better stereo imaging than one-cabinet models. Its just not so great when you find one that is missing its companion speaker, like the SK17 I have.

Some time ago, I got a blonde (limed oak) SK14, complete with phono, amp and preamp BUT without the companion speaker and it sat. A good customer of mine just brought me the exact same console, also missing its speaker cabinet.

These 2 are my next project, converting the second console into a speaker only, removing record changer to increase record storage. Main advantage besides matching cabinets is the matching speakers

That's a really nice 2 piece unit, as Dave says those make a lot more sense and better stereo than a 1 piece console. Hard to understand how the outboard speakers on these could go missing.

I've always thought the same thing, Roger. I have been very lucky, I have two VM unit's models 570 and 801 and both had their companion speaker when I found them. Gary at VM said it was rare to find the companion speakers.

How hard would it be to reproduce the companion speaker? You could 3-D print the script.

For me, kind of hard as I'm not a furniture builder, more of a furniture refinisher. The VM 801 would be easier than the 570. The 801 is more MCM so straighter lines.
