Sylvania console 1962

I got this from my business partner, who wanted my RCA VCR244 to sell for $$$ because its Scandinavian Walnut, so this was a freebie without a record player, originally a VM. Most Sylvania including solid state consoles used Garrard changers.

Firedome was nice enough to donate a Westinghouse-branded VM that I need that uber-cool "S" crest emblem on it.
That player needed only the basics, a tire and lube LOL! The Electro Voice cart was good and high enough output to sound great on this amp.

The amp itself was available in some interesting cabinets including Sylvania's best portable stereo record players.
The advantage here is a full cabinet and larger speakers. Only the style is questionable but maybe someone could look beyond that "minor" detail.

When the cabinet is as mint as this one,
style details do not bother me at all.

There's a 1950's Sylvania consolette with legs in blonde that
is not too far away from me.
It's priced over what I would want to pay, but it really is nice.
Hmmmmmmmmm.

I too, dig that stylized "S" on these Sylvanias.

And they aren't seen very often, either.

Why do you think Sylvania's are so hard to find? I have never seen a tube Sylvania anything and except for components, I have never personally seen a Sylvania console stereo. The only exception is the Sylvania TOTL color TV my parents had. They bought it used, it was one year old, from my one aunt's neighbor. He worked for GTE and they got a new Sylvania TV every year. MY best friend growing up purchased a Sylvania portable stereo when he was in college. It was deluxe, had a Garrard changer and a magnetic cartridge and sounded way bigger and better than it should have.

Glad that Dave MM was able to use the changer out of my late Uncle's little Westy mini-console!
The cabinet on this one sure is in nice condition!

I've seen maybe 2 or 3 Sylvania consoles on lur local CL and FBM in the last year or so.
Maybe because Sylvania had a big tube plant in Emporia PA about 1 hr W of me.
