Classic Hifi Care

I have a question about RCA 45 players, actually the changers but since they are in record players, I'm asking this question here under RCA.

Does anyone besides me have trouble with end of record reject not always rejecting? It does not do it all the time, and it does not make any difference which brand 45 record it is. As a matter of fact, I can have a mixture of record brands, and some will work just fine and then they won't. I might have 4 in a row that work, then one won't, then 3 more will, and then one won't. There is no rhyme or reason. I know about the adjustment for end of record, and I believe I have it correct. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is this an RP-190 changer (plastic tone arm) or an RP-168 changer (metal arm)?

The trip mechanism on the RP-190 can be cantankerous. The first thing I would try is to do the adjustments, in order, as specified in the 1951 Beitman's manual. The adjustments start on page 117 of the 1951 manual:

The earlier RP-168 has a much more reliable trip mechanism.

Thanks, Ken, I will check out the Beitman's info. I have the Fabulous 45 book and went by the info it contains for adjusting. Now I'm curious to see if the two agree.
