1966 Sears Silvertone 6090 AM-FM-Stereo Phono
I was asked to service the BSR UA-15 record changer in
this cute console.
I'll get an actual photo of the console and post it.
It's not very big, but I think it will sound very good.
It has a 12" woofer, 5" mid, and 4" tweeter for each
channel.
The BSR UA-15 is a solid built changer which I'll post
separately in "record changers".
It did have a curve ball for me, after I finished doing
all the servicing. (not unexpected, ha ha !)

I have seen that changer and always thought it was a VM. I hope the caps in that console aren't a problem.
Thanks for posting this, that encourages me to tackle even older BSR changers in a German EMUD and in a Motorola SK-12

Dave,
If you need any BSR manuals, just give
me a holler.
BSR's are really not too difficult. I rarely do much
dis-assembly.
The control linkages, operating surfaces and such
can be cleaned by reaching inside with q-tips and alcohol.
As we know, the biggest problem is with that
"epoxy" British grease.
Fortunately, this BSR's cam gear was not hard
to remove for cleaning, as the grease was not
hardened to that epoxy consistency.

Re: 1966 Sears Silvertone 6090 AM-FM-Stereo Phono
I took one of the same model apart before I left Missouri. I sold the changer at the auction. I still have the chassis and speakers. I was not impressed with its performance. In fairness, the chassis needs "the touch" like they all do. The rocker switches on the chassis I have are incredibly intermittent. The cabinet was water damaged, but I figured somebody might repurpose it, and it did sell at auction. Typical of some solid state equipment, there was a lot of empty cabinet. The cabinet appeared to have been well built.

Sears offered some nice-looking consoles. Wells-Gardner maybe?

Silvertone made some decent consoles I guess. About 11-12 years ago a widow neighbor gave me a circa 1962 Sears Silvertone console out of her basement that had been water damaged on top to the point of veneer coming off and was nicked and dented past the point of no return. I took out the receiver/amp, kept the good tubes, and stuck it on 'Bay. IIRC it was a typical 6BQ5 PP job, nothing great and it sold for something like $90. The buyer was someone named bcarver, and I believe he lived in Seattle or somewhere in the Northwest. He mentioned in his communication that he was an amp designer. Well it turned out he was THE Bob Carver! I asked him why he'd bought this humble thing, and he said to put in his "museum"! When it arrived he even eMailed to thank me, seemed like a super nice guy. To this day I have NO idea why he wanted it!

Bill, I believe the chassis I have was built by Warwick. Sears owned Warwick by the time this console was built. The Silvertone console TV I have was built by Warwick.

Yep... warwick was the builder of silvertone in the 60's, that changer looks better than the cresant changers they ultimately went to...I have never got a cresant changer to ever work correctly without stalling

The Sears console owner is back in
town, and today I took the BSR changer
back to re-install.
This console has a great sound, as I thought it would.
The bass and treble responses are super.
The young lady was amazed to learn she could
play multiple record albums.
Another happy return for all.
