Interesting thing about the changer plinth is, even the plinth is suspended on springs and it's weighted.
The changer has it own springs and mounts on the floating black motorboard (Plinth). Double isolated like an electric tool!

I did get the changer running today and all it needed was to be disassembled to clean out more lubricant/glue. Evidently using ISO alcohol didn't get to a couple of important pivot points and they were still not moving freely. I pulled the pieces apart and totally cleaned them, the re-oiled. Works great!

The receiver works great except for FM stereo, it only goes into stereo on very strong signals, and even then not all of them. Another symptom I think is related is FM takes about 15 seconds to make noise upon power up. The phono aux or AM make noise immediately, so it's only FM. All of the audio goes through the MPX board and I see audio immediately from the detector on my scope which narrows it down to the MPX board.

More to come...

Nice looking set.... the double spring plinth is a neat idea , my fisher could use that, because it is sensitive to people walking by it.

It has a nice hardwood cabinet. My wife would love that grill cloth.

That is a great looking console, it kind of reminds me of Fisher. It most produce real pounding bass to have the extra springs for the changer?

I have the same console with a 2225 receiver at my home and the reason I joined the forum. I've attached 3 photos. I have not disassembled any components other than to disconnect the speaker connections to determine if a hum I was hearing is the amps side or a speaker/wiring issue. The hum follows is on one channel regardless of the speaker connected. The tuner brings in station with the strong ones pushing the signal needle to the max. Audio quality overall sound good except for the hum on the right-channel. The rumble and compensator add more low frequency depth to the sound.

I have not tried the mic inputs nor the "earphones" outputs, nor the associated record player (for which I will have to buy a vinyl record for at a local store. I also have not tested the AM side tuner.

Honestly, I was surprised it worked at all and I was quite taken with the sound. I may need some tips on removing the speaker grilles to see what the speakers look like. Any extra hints and info are appreciated!

I forgot to add that it also came with a pair of Kenwood KL-2070 2-way 35W 8ohm standalone speakers as well. Not tested yet either.

You may start a thread about your console on this board if you'd like. That way, it can be followed better than being attached to this one. Good luck.

3rd try. I'll amplify what our own deuce-and-a-quarter said. Try simple fixes first. Work the input-selector switch back and forth to see if you ca wipe away corrosion on the contacts. Do the same with the "tape in/out" switch. Try removing and replacing the phono-input plugs. Speaker connections are unlikely to be hum causes. If the hum persists, maybe try some contact cleaner on the input-selector switch. I use Deoxit, usually applied with a small artist's brush. I'm not a fan of wholesale spraying, which leaves stuff everywhere, except maybe for potentiometers where there's only a little hole for access.

You may want to replace the filter capacitors and the other electrolytic capacitors anyway because they have a limited life and don't cost much. That said, I've got an old Scott 382C with original caps).
