The amp was powered up for 2 hours.
It had some "tube noise" that I recognized.

I pulled the 12AU7 and cleaned the socket pin
slots.
I crimped the slots with needle nose pliers.

Replaced 12AU7 and it still had some noise.

I switched out the tube and it is very quiet.

On to probably the biggest challenge:

The Cobramatic Stroboscope record changer.

Will the Cobramatic changer present less of a challenge than the Garrard you did recently?

Looking at the Cobramatic lately,
I think it will be more complex than the Garrard.
The Cobra has a lot going on there mechanically and
dis-assembly wise.

The dis-assembly and re-assembly of the Garrard was
actually the biggest PIA.
Once apart, the cleaning of the Garrard was not difficult.

But, as I tell myself, I'll figure the Cobra out, and then
I'll know more about them if I take another on.

You are THE changer guru, Mr. Mogul. Thank you taking the time to share your project and your knowledge with the forum. I am learning a lot.

The day I thought would never arrive is Today !

After more tweaks, I re-assembled amp and changer
into the cabinet.

Tested and played well, with its limitations.

Owner came by and was suitablly impressed, ha ha !

They loaded it carefully and took it home, and gave
me a $40 tip over what I charged.

I gave them thorough instructions and sent them
the schematic and changer files for their reference.

I'm thinkin' of getting some good pizza from a
family-owned pizzeria this week with that $40.
And a cold beer will be requisite due to our
heat wave to last another 7 days at least.

Congratulations on saving one more classic! And send some heat this way. Saturday we had mod-70s and a perfect wind for sailing. Shortly after i got the boat moored and covered, the wind went into the N and the temps dropped. Today--Sunday--it's mid-50s, rainy, and blowing hard from the N still. Worse, I can't make it a 3-day weekend because I have work obligations on Monday.
