And a very understanding wife I'd guess! LOL Lots of fun projects there, I've always really liked the 2 cabinet '59s from a number of console makers!

You can't have too many, Dave.
A wise man said one time that there is always room for ONE more.
Then there is always the fine art of stacking.

You can have too many when it comes time to move!

I can testify to the validity of your comment, Roger. If you have even ONE when it comes time to move, you have ONE too many.

The "stuff" can be well-managed if you have a plan and plenty of sturdy, cheap boxes. I am fortunate to work in retail where lots of various-sized boxes are available for the taking. Egg boxes and cheese boxes are best, since they are double-sided and stack well. If you have to buy boxes and pay somebody to fill them, you may spend more than you want. The big furniture you wrap with a blanket then shrink wrap. Outside of the massive amount of work, our move and repopulation went without a hitch. Only minor scratches as far as damage. I forgot. We broke a glass on the wife's curio cabinet. That was our only mishap. We have no idea how it happened.

When its time to move, your plan is a great outline. I would keep the one in Firedome's Avatatar and maybe the '62 SK77, since its high on desirable list as well.electra225 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 2:01 am The "stuff" can be well-managed if you have a plan and plenty of sturdy, cheap boxes. The '63 SK112 in my 3rd floor home office will send the wife up the steps if turned past 2, no 1.5 on a 1-10 scale
Selling what you would not want in your personal museum when you move, is wise to say the least. Off to a new and better environment in a place where such items are rare and unfortunately, space is limited.
The sort and document phase can only be done well by you.

Yep the Moto console in my avatar had that same "dashboard" with the 2 big circle dials, it was very late '50s car looking. It was a 6V6 3 channel and had the big center mounted 15" woofer. Went to a good local home for $50 before our move down the road. Really liked that one.
I still have 4 of those "space-age" looking white chairs ----->> in the basement, they came out of the waiting-room in my wife's medical office when they "updated" the office decor!

Re: Too many Motorola consoles?
The back-lit knobs on the preamp were discontinued on '63 and '64 models, the race car dials are easier to use. Tradeoffs like that stink, so I added some plexiglass over the dials on the SK112 and lit them with an orange LED in the upper right corner.Firedome wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 4:46 pm Yep the Moto console in my avatar had that same "dashboard" with the 2 big circle dials, it was very late '50s car looking.
