Magnavox two piece stereo

Here is one I have not seen before. It looks to be in excellent shape. The tuner looks like a six knobber Symphony or Little Imperial. The amp is not a 9300 series but I am having trouble identifying it. Maybe a AMP175?

Yep, it's a 175-67. I'm pretty sure it is a PP 6V6 and I have read that they sound pretty good. It does look nice.

It is probably a 1960 model. AMP-175 most likely. Are those the ones they call Continental? Basically the same electronics as the Symphony. Little Imperial appeared for the 1961 models. Magnavox used the name Imperial on several different series of instruments, both earlier and later than this one.

Edit....I just noticed this has a MPX in it. Definitely not factory, it's too old for that. You can see the wiring diagram from the cabinet in the pictures. The closest I found in the 1960 brochure was model number 1SR206. Don't quote me on that. The trim on the front of this one is a little different than what's in the brochure. It probably has the eight-speaker system found in the Symphony of that year. Either 12" or 15" speakers, depending on model.

Are those the ones they call Continental?

That's not a continental. I attached a picture of my Continental.

What those are, however, are the stereo that were part of a Magnavox TV and were designed to straddle the TV as a Stereo Theater with separate components. If you notice, the input selector has a position for TV where normal tuners did not have the TV position

I found it in the 1962 Maggie brochure. In 1962 they were paired with a Maggie Color TV and was called the "Colorama Stereo Theater Far Eastern Contemporary". Models 2-MV512K for the TV, and, 2-ST283 for the Stereo part. Thirty watt amp, 12" woofers and four 5" speakers. The complete unit sold for $1170.00.

I suspect the TV part was an RCA CTC11 clone, that is a very reliable chassis so its on my upgrade list
