Garrard 3000 from a 1966 Hoffman stereo console

Compared to the difficulities of the Garrard 3500 a while back,
this changer was thankfully s.o.p. for service.

Unique to these models is the special design spindle
retainer clip that must be replaced in a designated position.
That is only addressed in a factory manual, not in Sams.
I marked the position on the clip and took a photo to remind me.

The clip can be bent out of configuration, so be careful on removal.
The record spindle is removeable, with the clip locking it back
in place when spindle replaced.

I thought the original idler was going to be good, but it
barely pulled through cycle.

The old grease was not overly applied at the factory,
so less time cleaning the mechanism.

This motor has an actual ball bearing in the bottom
bearing housing, so be careful not to lose it.

The tonearm will raise up quite a bit, making stylus
replacement easy.

The stylus and idler are coming, so that's all that
remains to complete.

I really like these type Garrards as the tonearm
lift pin ramp is deeper than other changers,
which makes the tonearm drop slower and smoother.
