I backed the Mustang out of the garage today (finally had sunshine) for only the second time this summer. This year it has seen less than 100 miles so far, the least in 38 years of ownership. I got distracted by buying the Tacoma and traveling. This is a big tourist destination and I played tourist, making a 53 mile loop on the Old Mission Peninsula. At the end I topped it off with rec gas, which was < $4/gallon for a change.
The trees are starting to turn and some have changed already to brilliant colors in the sunshine. I stopped at the Mission Point Light and walked to the water's edge--

--but mostly just drove because my knee is still complaining. The only excitement was at a stoplight, when suddenly the engine RPMs went to zero. Clutch in, twist the key, it fired right up and didn't scare me again. It did this once before--died underway--when the TFI ignition module failed. It was a design defect--the device can't take heat, and they put in on the distributor at the back of the engine. I'll have to look and see if mine has been relocated outboard, and if not, I'll buy the kit for that.

South of you, Chris, the sun was out full today too and the colors on the trees were beautiful. It is really pretty when you get the reflection of the tree colors on Hart Lake. We have had two hard frosts in the last two night and I expect another one tonight. Once the frosts start the leaves start falling fast which is ok, I kind of like raking leaves.

I'm close enough to the water that we've not had hard frost, but I've been worrying, so I moved the geraniums indoors for the winter. They are always happier outside where they get lots of light, but light won't cure a freeze....

Re: Mustang plays tourist
I raked leaves and pine needles yesterday, and finished the winter cover on the local sailboat. Today I did some serious sitting around until late in the day. I wanted to drive the Mustang again but the old truck was in the way. I hate starting a vehicle and turning it off without full warm-up, so I drove it to work to see what time tomorrow I have to be on Zoom. Then back at home the Mustang backed out of its hiding place and did a 25 mile loop in the countryside. Dual exhausts on a V-8 make a most satisfying sound.
