Sad, but it is kind of cute. And to think, that find could end up in a museum so I guess it is up to us to see that does not happen.

It's my luck that I'd do all that digging just to find a Garrard..... :(

Garrard changers are on my "red X" list with Zenith radios and two-cycle engines......

I find the 1960s Garrards to be good changers.

I've service the 2025TC, and it is a solid performer, but not sure
of its production year.

Garrard later went to that terrible cheaper Unimech design,
which I learned to avoid totally.

I was running the local sailboat on its 1967 6-hp, 2-stroke Evinrude last night. The boat is temporarily in a marina, not on its mooring, so I need power to get in and out. I bought the motor used (well used, I think) and I'm abut the only one who can make it run. It sits in a well and tends to choke on its own fumes, which upset the air/fuel ratio. This year I have acquired a little rechargeable fan to try to get fresh air to it.

One big problem with 2-stroke engines is that people use car gas, which usually contains the evil ethanol. It absorbs atmospheric moisture and that causes corrosion on the carburetor's dissimilar metals. The small engines tend to be run sporadically, so the gas sits a long time and can get gummy. When good sense finally struck me (late as usual), I started buying no-ethanol "rec gas." Big improvement!! It is becoming common here in Michigan, where we have lots of boats. I also use it in my 4-stroke lawn mower engines for the same reasons. The Chevy too, because it sits, and in the Mustang, for winter storage. Rec gas is more expensive but I have come to recognize the truth in the car guys' radio/newspaper pieces: "The stingy man pays the most." I may be frugal but I try not to be stingy.

Mr. Mogul, I have an RC-121 MkII on its way to the landfill if you don't want it. The silly thing is possessed. I really believe it's been dropped at some point. About the time I think I have it sorted, something else pops up. All complete except the cartridge, which is the only good thing on it to my way of thinking. Even has a motor board, plinth, with it. I want it out of my life. I hate to toss stuff, but if nobody wants it and I don't want it, I can't store it just because I hate to toss it. My first and LAST Garrard changer........ ;)

That turntable looks like it's a Technics SL-1200MK2 clone. I have a real one and if it ever ends up in the dirt it'll be after I'm gone.

I find that if I use VM changers I get along a lot better. I realize they are considered to be clunky and crude, but they are also relatively idiot-proof. I appreciate "the good stuff", but I probably wouldn't utilize all it has to offer due to pure ignorance..... ;)

"Rec gas" last I saw, was approaching $6 a gallon around here. Regular old gas here, right now, is $3.94 at the Circle K on the corner. There is no way I would pay six bucks a gallon for fueling a Buick that gets 8 mpg on a good day, running downhill, with a Kenworth tailwind. I'll admit it, I'm cheap. Regular pump gas and Sta-Bil are a LOT cheaper......

The only way for me to keep a two-cycle engine running is with an exorcism......

I've actually had good luck with two stroke engines. I think one of the most important things to do is to drain the gas and run it until all the gas is out of the carburetor when it's not going to be used again soon. Ethanol gas will eventually mess up most fuel lines so sometimes lines will have to be changed. I use premium gas and a good premix oil. Unfortunately, I can't find ethanol free gas near me. I mix at about a 43 to 1 ratio and don't have any problem with smoke.

I heat with wood, and I have some chainsaws that are about twenty years old and they're still going strong. I also have a string trimmer and hedger that are two stroke, and both work fine.

I run car gas in the Mustang in the summer because it's driven frequently. For winter storage it's rec gas. Before rec gas was generally available, The first spring highway trip in the Mustang was always scary. About 30 miles down the road, the engine would start stopping. My heart would jump each time. Usually the phenomenon ceased after a few hiccups, but I was never sure that it would stop stopping. I classify white-tail deer and ethanol gas in the same category: things that should be eliminated

My issue with two cycle engines is me. I hate them and they know that. I don't take care of them. I do everything wrong when I deal with them.
