Juice Newton

Post: # 27257Post electra225 »

I'm not a huge Juice Newton fan. I found her country recordings a tad too "rock-y" for my taste. There is one song, on her "Old Flame" album, circa 1985 on RCA that really showcases her talent. I personally feel her songwriters and producers headed her toward rock, where she might have been more able to use her considerable talent had she stayed more traditional. This song, "Hurt" could have been sung by Connie Francis, and, more currently, Carrie Underwood. Ms. Underwood, in my opinion, has much the same issue as Ms. Newton in that her songwriting is generally terrible.

Whenever I go to the town near me, I try to stop in at the local Goodwill and check the CDs out. Most Goodwills don't have very many CDs anymore, but my local store usually has several and I've been lucky this year because I've found quite a few that I've bought.

Yesterday I found a Juice Newton's Greatest Hits (AND MORE). I'm like you Greg that I'm not a huge Juice Newton fan and this wasn't a must have but I do enjoy listening to some of her songs. This Cd has several hit songs on it and several that I haven't ever heard before or maybe I just don't recall them.

I know she had some hits on the country charts, but I consider her songs more of a mellow rock style.
