Up coming estate sale in Michigan
I was checking out Estate-Sales.Net today and ran across this sale and I thought I would share all of the old goodies this person collected over the years.

Wow, lots of cool stuff in that mess. It does make me grateful that I've been better about restraining my collecting impulses, and better at distributing things to places where they can be better appreciated.

I am trying to do the same, Chris, but there are things in this sale that are tempting and the really bad part it is not that far from me. Depending on the weather I might just take a ride to see what kind of prices they want for all the goodies.

If I were around, I would find much stuff to keep an eye on... but only after setting a mental top price, having been caught up in auction fever before.
Note that photo #73 appears to show one of those 1920s speakers that sat under the battery-powered radio as its table. These ere typically armature-type speakers, not voice-coil devices, with big cones. They are high impedance and with limited frequency range but they match 1920s radios.
Photos 159, 199, and 215-217 also looked interesting.

Wow, I always marvel at how a newer house can get loaded up like that. It was a reality check for me anyway, as I was looking at my future
with all that outside stuff.

I always tell clients that nobody, young or old, has any guarantees of longevity--especially those of us who drive on public roads, where a single drunk can change our plans. So taking my own advice to heart, I have drafted some "how to dispose of " instructions for various categories of Valuable Stuff like cars, boats, and of course the old electronics. It gives my heirs at least a head start on the process.Motorola minion wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 10:12 pm Wow, I always marvel at how a newer house can get loaded up like that. And for random stuff that' has been rescued not so much because I want it, but because it's too cool for the landfill, I try to place it in proper hands now. (Anybody want a Crosley fake-dial wall phone?)
The other thing you can do for stuff that has a history is to write up that history so it will be known if you are not around to recite it. Part of it is provenance, or where it came from and whose hands it has passed through, but also other stories. What makes it special?
