Another dandy performing little radio with a nasty cabinet. The cabinet is solid as a dime, the dial floats around inside the cabinet. This will be in the refinish pile. It came from that auction in MO and was at best a parts set. I put an RCA antenna and back on it. IT's ugly, but it works great.

Nothing that a coat of paint won't cure and then it will set beside the rest of the ones you have been working on, something to enjoy for many years to come. I find it interesting how well these AA5 radios work even after all these years of just sitting around. Here in podunkville, AM stations are limited, and the best time is night then the world seems to be at your back door. It is different in say, Grand Rapids, where they are plentiful. Oh well, I like it here in podunkville, it is peaceful, quiet, and far less congestion.

You get credit for rescuing these "ordinary" little radios. There's a huge variety in their cabinets, concealing not much variety in the basic AA5 circuit design. I wonder how much performance variation there is in their RF coils and IF transformers? It's fun seeing them come back to life.

I have the body color on the cabinet. The grille will be "Vintage Blush". I am using material I already have on hand. I am mixing and matching material so I don't waste. No money in tossing something partially used. The grille area will shot sometime after 48 hours have passed. I'll tape it off, put on another thin coat of primer (just in case!) then color.

Thaks, Elton! The front panel, where the paint looks thin, was two-toned in "Vintage Blush" like I used on the front of the big RCA radio. I don't like that combination. I need to find a better choice, then tape it off and do it over.
