What year Cadillac is that parked nose to nose to yours? Looks like a coupe with the Buick Electra roofline. '62, maybe? You don't see one of those very often. I like your white Cadillac. Very elegant....... :D :D

Mine is the white 60 Special sedan. The Coupe de Ville is my buddy's car. His car has 140k + miles and runs like a Swiss watch. I'm still kinda breaking mine in after restoration. So nice to float 120 miles with air and cruise.

I just put my '61 Chevy into winter storage. The storage guy gave me a few extra weeks this year but he likes to get things in.

The Chevy has no cruise control but it has two forms of air conditioning. (1) Put the top down. And (2), open the footwell vents. Until this car was back on the road, I had forgotten how effective those footwell vents are. Did anybody other than GM use those?

No, Walter, but I wish I was there. Beautiful Caddy's, I am jealous. Do you have more photos you could share?

Chris, I think pretty much all-American built cars had floor vents at some point.

Even the air conditioned cars had vents. The vents in my Buick are opened by a vacuum motor, you select "Vent" on the "Four Season Air Conditioning" control knob. The non-air cars had a knob you pulled out on each vent.

So both of the Cadillacs Walter posted pictures of are 1962 models? I knew the white 60 four door was his.

My '38 Buick has a cowl vent, a flap that tilts up to scoop air.

Grandpa had a '47 International KB-8 truck, powered by a Buick straight 8. In the summertime, the windshield folded out and there was a cowl vent. He would take the sides off the hood to let out heat. The heat that came out of the sides of the engine came right up and in under the windshield and in that cowl vent. I was always barefooted as a kid, and the floorboards of that old truck would get so hot I had to set with my feet on the seat so I wouldn't burn my feet. That same truck was the most comfortable vehicle he owned in the winter time. The engine heat, compounded by the Haydees under-dash hot water heater made for a very comfortable cab. There was not an ounce of insulation in that cab anywhere, I'm sure.
