Hello,
Picked up the console a few days ago. The record changer works fine with the new (50Hz) idler wheel.
Placed some photos here:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing
Will now try to find a 12-inch speaker to install in the unit.
I see that the two speakers already in the unit are from different manufacturers. Don't know if this is normal or if they have been replaced in the past.
Found this 12-inch speaker on ebay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/135271354148?m ... media=COPY
Does the 12-inch speaker just connect in parallel with the other speakers? That's what it seems based on the schematic...
Still trying to figure out whether the amplifier and the record player are mono or stereo.

Re: VM 570 turntable issues
Hi Andreas,
First, the amplifier is MONO, for this unit to be stereo you need its matching amplifier/speaker. Which is this, but model VM-102. You will also need a stereo cartridge which you may already have. Check to see how many wires attach to the cartridge that is installed in your changer. Two wires mono, three to four stereo.

Second, the two remaining speakers that are in your console are not original to your unit. Someone, at some point, must have removed all three speakers and replaced them with just two speakers. I have no idea why they would have done that, but they did. In this VM unit, all three speakers would have been 719, Carbonneau speaker company, Grand Rapids Michigan. The tweeter that is in your unit has been damaged and patched and the larger speaker is mounted with brackets which VM did not do, and it tells me the speaker is larger than the actual hole behind it. I also do not see any crossover caps. Also, the wires going to the speakers are not factory. All is not lost, it can be remedied, it will just take three speakers, a capacitor and resistor to do it. As far as the speaker you found on eBay, I would not buy it, it already has damage that you can see in the upper RH corner.
I hope this helps, and in the meantime, you can enjoy listening to records while you search for the correct speakers.

Hi Bill,
Many thanks for the information!
Maybe one of the previous owners tried to repair the unit with components found locally.
Anyway, it still sounds very good!
Will continue searching for the correct speakers

Re: VM 570 turntable issues
You offered some really good, detailed information, Bill. Nice job and thank you......
Andreas, what size speakers do you need, other than the 12"? I don't have any original Carbonneau speakers, but perhaps I might have a set that would at least match each other, if that would help....

A good leader is someone who can tell you where to go, and make you look forward to the trip.
Never allow someone who has done nothing to advise you on anything.

Hi electra225,
It seems that I need all three speakers. Many thanks for the offer!
However, since the cost for shipping the speakers from the US to Cyprus is quite high (about 5 times the cost of a used speaker, based on the ones found on eBay), I will see if I can find the original ones. Maybe first add the 12-inch speaker and then see if I can replace the other two.

Re: VM 570 turntable issues
I would be inclined to purchase speakers of the correct size and purpose (tweeters are designed to respond to high frequencies, as you know). Don't worry about original-equipment correctness. For most of us, close enough is going to be good enough. Find some that you can afford, including shipping. Later on, if you have golden ears and can detect frequency irregularities, you can work on getting better speakers.
I've got two consoles that were without speakers--a little "Home-Mark" device and a Heath. I bought new speakers for each from Parts Express (https://www.parts-express.com/).
