Re: Unknown Motorola
Thanks for the update, Elton, it looks like progress is being made and I know from firsthand observation that your cabinet work is top notch. Keep up the good work and be sure to include photos of your progress.

We look forward to seeing your progress. Good luck with your plan working out like you want.....

Re: Unknown Motorola
What it looked like , to now... not great but its good enough for this neighborhood ... I wish I took a picture of my first attempt... it looked like real wood and I was patting myself on the back as the next Picasso or Rembrandt ... until 3 days later and the stain still refused to dry even with a fan blowing on it... then I looked at the can... the stain was brand new but was over 10 years old ... the final product looks like an idiot (your truly) did it ... but it beats the crap brown...

Re: Unknown Motorola
There's a solution. You can buy varnish-stain, a varnish with stain in it. It works for covering up not-so-great woods. Find a color that's compatible; add coats until it looks good to you.

Re: Unknown Motorola
That looks good, Elton, kind of like the way my little Philco console looks after I kind of did the same thing. Actually, yours looks way better and I think if selling it is order, it will sell.
Chris. I have tried the combo stuff and have not had good luck with it. Of course, I was probably doing something wrong, but I did read the directions.

Re: Unknown Motorola
I used an eggshell latex poppy orange paint for the base , and the stain applied over it ... I guess according to the pros eggshell paint is the best for this type of job the spotchingness you see on the lid (the dark spots) was from the first try that wiped off

Actually, Elton, that looks pretty good too. You can definitely tell it was blonde.
