I was glad to help, and how can you not, it was a dead ringer for what I experienced .
I usually hold off on posting until sure it is a helpful one if not exactly a resolution of the issue.

Here's a few photos of Ms. 1959 Zenith.
I got her as clean as possible, but the sound is
what is really nice.
Been listening to (The Big O) Roy Orbision's Greatest Hits and
a Rhino records release, "Best of the Bobby Fuller Four".

Does that have the "electrostatic" tweeter? I have a friend that has a similar unit and it uses that tweeter. It sounds pretty good too.

Hi Bill,
This gal has 2 x 4" full range speakers in each cabinet.
It produces some good bass and treble response,
with just a tone control.

Not what you'd expect, but I've had some
1950's V-M record players with two small speakers
that produced good bass, too.
