My parents' first VCR, an RCA VGT200, was sitting in the basement of their house. It had been retired there when It was replaced--it went to all reds and blues, no greens. Apparently this was a rebranded Panasonic product. I'm wondering if others have any experience with this device. Solid-state video is way above my pay grade.

I don't know much about a VCR, but how could the VCR affect certain colors? All it does is play a tape. I wonder if the tape is good and I would also wonder if the TV set you are using is good. No green sounds more like a TV malady than one found in a VCR. Does the problem appear on multiple tapes? On a different TV set?

No, it was the VCR. They replaced it and the new one worked fine. Online comments indicated that these would sometimes only work in B&W. It's heavy; online sources say 27 lbs.

Have you tried to use this VCR recently? Did online comments indicate why it might have wonky color?

Haven't tried it yet. Yesterday was boat-launch day and water-on day at the little cottage. Today is preparing-to-travel day at home and at work. Many distractions. None of the online sources 'I've seen so far talk about missing one color. It's like movies from the '60s and '70s on Kodak film stock with the fugitive greens. I'll have more time for hobby stuff in June when I'm home again.
