My wife has a six-record set of Connie Francis on 45's. I played this record and thought my record player was on the fritz. This must be the most poorly edited Connie Francis record every made. It sounds like the record is running too fast, really high-pitched. Recorded in 1958, she would have been 21 years old. I thought Patsy Cline recorded this song first, but she recorded it in 1962.

What a great jukebox tune, in either version.

Re: Connie Francis "You Were Only Fooling"
The song was written by Larry Fotine, Ben Gordon and Billy Faber. It was first recorded by Blue Barron and His Orchestra with vocal by Clyde Burke in 1948. This according to our friend, Mr. Bing. The Patsy Cline version featured a harpsichord which was a favorite of Owen Bradley. He used the harpsichord in at least one other Patsy Cline recording, as well as Kitty Wells and Red Foley.
