FBM Blond Custom 3 pc w/Scott LK-48 Madison WI $950

Post: # 12385Post macgolf »

Didn't see where this had been posted previously. Love the look of the chocolate faced Scott integrateds. I believe this is a LK-48. Looks like a pristine cabinet and speakers from original owners. Original paperwork. Eventually the price will meet the value of the components. I've seen more optimistic prices for lesser consoles.

Wow that's a great combo of gorgeous style and beautiful blonde finish cabinet with excellent components. I'd pay that price, it's such an ideal console. The LK-48 is the kit version of the 222 and 222b amps, which imo are among, if not THE, best integrated PP 6BQ5/7189 tube amps ever made. The original 1959 Scott 299s were also 6BQ5/7189 amps and when the later 299 versions went to more powerful 7591 outputs, the 222 was actually the improved version of the original 299. Being in a custom cabinet and not a factory console, I'd wager it was a LK-48 kit. Anyway, with this amp, in this cabinet, with University duplex speakers in separate cabs, and the excellent Type A, to me this is as about as good as a console can get, and the price not unreasonable... f I were near Madison I'd make an offer!

OMG! If that system were located in SoCal, I would be on the road right now in my Astro Van to snatch it up...sigh.

Unfortunately more & more is migrating to FBM and away from CL, and eBay just gets worse & worse, they're bloodsuckers. I've never used FB but gave in to use FBM about 2 yrs ago, and that's it.
This is absolutely the style I'd want in my LR, in this finish, love it.
With a great amp and maybe the best changer of the era.
Looks like all the orig paperwork in the bottom drawer.
Somebody had excellent taste and foresight.

Now if this were summer (and if I had a bigger house) I could drive down to Ludington, hop on the carferry across Lake Michigan, and be in Madison in no time. The carferry doesn't cross in winter, even though it's designed as an icebreaker. In the old days they carried railroad cars and ran all winter long, but now the cargo is tourists, and getting stuck in the ice is not a big tourist draw.

What a classic and handsome setup that is. Hope somebody gets it who appreciates the classic qualities.

Thanks for posting those photos. I was having some technical difficulties, on my end, getting them loaded.

Your welcome, Bill. I have FB access through my wife's account and occasionally have a look. More and more has migrated to FB and I may have to get my own account just for FBM.

It is a looker. I'd love to get a Scott amp or receiver. If this were in SO Cal, it'd already be gutted with the cabinet on the curb OR it'd be 12k...
