And those will be FTC watts, not advertising-dept. watts.

Re: Hii I'mNew here and excited to join the community

Sandy mentioned classic gear. A recent issue of Stereophile magazine had a review of a preamp ($25K, so I'm not rushing to buy one) from a small CA company, Ampsandsound https://ampsandsound.com/pages/who-we-are I was looking for his quotes about the classic designs in the back of the RCA tube manua...

Re: Plenty To Do In Retirement

My doctor encouraged waiting, but then confessed that after he had waited 3 mo. and developed an ulcer from ibuprofen, he opted for surgery. I was lucky, but the point is that trying waiting is the first option. There were a couple times while waiting that I was about to choose amputation. The thing...

Re: Plenty To Do In Retirement

By way of encouraging waiting, I'll add that my sciatic nerve attack resolved itself with time and PT. After three weeks, I could walk while standing up fr short distances. The injury was on March 23 and the butt, leg, and ankle are completely normal now. In the middle, I re-injured the other knee (...

The new heat sink. Yes, the engine is dirty.

The new TFI module is behind the fins. The shiny woven cable connects it to the distributor.

My sister does Instagram and finds interesting things. I did not know about Barbara Lyn--a left-handed guitarist, singer, and song writer. See here:

Re: Mustang TFI

The kit came with dab of gray thermal grease and instructions to treat it carefully because it's so expensive to replace. I kept getting my finger in it as I was unboxing/exploring. The Accell TFI came with a tiny packet of white grease that I have saved for future use. Hope it won't be needed but I...

Re: Mustang TFI

The night before last, I installed the last step on the TFI relocation project--the dummy TFI on the distributor, with wires from it running to the new TFI on the heat sink. It took 3 hours in heat & humidity. Lots of @#%**$!!!. The online video makes it look like a half-hour job, but that must ...

I've got the chassis, speaker, and antenna too, probably from the '41 version. My uncle had built it into my grandparents' breakfast room. Long ago, before the house was sold, I spotted the cabinet stored in the enclosed storage area under the big front porch, but had no way to move it back to MI fr...

Love the vintage rig! It probably gives the same satisfying sound that the record-preview system at Lucky's Record Shop gave in the early '60s. Just a big sound, starting with a happy thump when the stylus hit the lead-in groove. I think theirs used a VR II also.

For a dry lube, I'm fond of paraffin wax. You can wipe it down to a fine film after application. I use it for sail tracks (waterproof, clean) door latch strikes, all sorts of things.

I drove all over the E. TN area in my faithful '62 Corvair. There may be roads with an oil track from it still.

Zenith tended to like concentric controls, so what appears to be one knob may be two.

There's another country music show in Ky. that's been around for a long time called The Lincoln Jamboree. It's located in Hodgenville, Ky. Been to Hodgenville. Yay for traveling off the freeways. Heck, I lived in Kingsport, TN for a year, one of the 3 that make up the tri-cities there. Bristol TN/V...
