Re: Plenty To Do In Retirement
I am so sorry to hear about your eye problems. I can say cataract surgery is a breeze, had both done and everything is much clearer and brighter. I have also had a detached retina and an eye specialist nailed that back in place using lazier technology. Did your eye doctor offer a solution for your ...

Re: A change to Rule 14
I've noticed that some forums are using a security verification which I'm guessing is used to fight the bots. Is it possible that something like that would help here?

Re: Zenith Console - Lexington, Ky. - $300
Danny, I am not sure every year had legs, the upper part of the cabinet was the same, MCM with the swell shades/louvers. I have seen that style both ways, with and without legs. Bill I didn't know that. Could legs have been an option? It looks like it's very close to the ground and I do think the o...

Re: Zenith Console - Lexington, Ky. - $300
Thank you for the links, Bill. The first video you linked to really sounds good and is recorded well. I went back to the console for sale, and I don't see any of the legs on it. If it's supposed to have legs and doesn't have them that would really cut into the value of it.

Zenith Console - Lexington, Ky. - $300
I have saw some Zenith consoles sell for good money in the past and I don't know it this is one of same but if it isn't it's very similar. It's not cheap at $300 but it still might be worth it especially when considering that it has a reel to reel. It looks like it does take up a lot of real estate....

They really are nice looking radios. Do you know what kind of wood they're made out of?

Re: Classic Avocado G.E. Player
Thank you for posting this because it has brought back some memories for me. When I was a teenager, I got a record player for Christmas one year and that may be one just like it. I remember it was a GE and had a green plastic case. I was thinking it was a lighter green than that but it's been a very...

Re: Aftermarket retrofit fuel injection for old cars
I don't have any experience with them and don't know anybody who has. The cost would hold me back, but it still might be worth it in the long run. You could try hotrodders.com. There are lots of knowledgeable people there and some not so knowledgeable people, but you can usually get some good inform...

Re: Lefty Frizzell Saginaw Michigan
I've been to the tri-cities area, but it's been a long, long time ago. I'm guessing they probably have a museum there featuring the Carter Family there but if they do I didn't see it. I did go to the Bristol Motor Speedway not to see a race but just to look at it. A security person there let us walk...

Re: Bobby Darren "Who Left The Door To Heaven Open"
I've heard of Bobby Darin but never Bobby Darren. He's a guy that I wouldn't mind seeing live because he sings real country music. He did a great job on that song but so did Hank Thompson. I'd bet there was a guitar in his household when he was very young, and he learned to play it like that. I've s...

Re: Lefty Frizzell Saginaw Michigan
Danny, I had a senior moment.....   The reason you could only find Herman Schwartz by Stonewall Jackson is that he was the one who recorded it, not Lefty Frizell. I get the two mixed up, they sound a lot alike. My apologies... I for one don't have those senior moments.........

Re: Lefty Frizzell Saginaw Michigan
To divert even farther, some of us are old enough to remember when the Renfro Valley Barn Dance was broadcast on the radio. When I was a kid, the family would head south at spring vacation, aiming for Birmingham. We'd either stay there at Granny's big old house and hang out with the uncles, aunts, ...

I have a CD with that song on it and it's probably Patsy Montana singing but I haven't listened to it for a long time. I think Suzy does a much better job singing it than Patsy did.

Re: Glen Campbell plays the William Tell Overture
Glenn Campbell was a first rate guitar player. He worked with the Wrecking Crew in LA in the 60s and they were some of the best studio musicians ever. Glenn couldn't read music but that didn't hold him back at all. He also sang and played with the Beach Boys but not for very long. I have read that t...

Re: Lefty Frizzell Saginaw Michigan
With sincere apologies to Danny for highjacking his topic.  Lefty Frizell recorded a song about Herman Schwartz. The gist of the story is that Herman Schwartz is alleged to be running around with the writer's woman. To wit: "I don't believe you, Herman Schwartz when you say my baby...

Lefty Frizzell Saginaw Michigan
This is one of my top five songs by country music singers. El Paso by Marty Robbins is right up there too.
I'd love to hear John Anderson sing this song because his voice sounds a lot like Lefty, to me anyway.
