Re: RCA bad speakers?... Nope
The hutch RCA's were pretty interesting variations on those wonderful 63-64 models. I see those come up for sale, usually within an hour of me. Those 9-knob preamp/receivers using on-board mpx are great performers on par with Zenith and Motorola. These tube models were matched up to SS amps in later...

Re: Greetings from southeast Michigan
Welcome to the forum. Thats an extra nice RCA walnut beauty and rare, compared to the more common cabinet I have seen using the same chassis in later models- Anholt VLT-51. The control panel with "800" looks like what the upper-case models, later introduced in less expensive step-up giants...

Looks like he is sharpening up the claws on your chair and it also looks like you are working on something Motorola? Bill That is a 30 YO chair too, and Motorola has not been on my bench for a while. Being one of few Mid - Atlantic Easterners here, air is great with clear skies this week but it will change as it always does  outdoor yard/wood/harvest work, auto maintenance and antenna work is best done when its just like this. The cooler weather makes being outside great but it was in the ...

Re: Pioneer SX-1050 receiver restoration
Much better quality electrolytic caps were used in most receivers like this including Sansui, Marantz, Kenwood, etc. Also note! that direct coupling is used between transistors. Complex feedback and bias networks do use capacitors and low ESR should be confirmed before embarking on a wholesale recap...

This outfit is a joke. I reached out to them three times for TV parts, they never got back to me. I'd say this outfit is a last resort if you have a lot of patience....... If you did not speak with Bill Moyer at the Sunbury store, I am not surprised. Kenny and other two at the Pottsville store whic...

Re: 1957 RCA 14" model 14-S-7070 TV set
This thread may encourage someone to tackle a quality project like this one. I recommend any 1949-1969 set with a power transformer like this one! Basket cases and color TVs are best left with long-time sufferers of service (like Shang0) that are relentless until they have found all the issues. Ive ...

Re: Silvertone - Syntronic record changer
I think the spear was for manual pickup. My cousins had a Sear portable with that tone arm and the spear was kind of handy to manually pick up the tone arm. Bill The 'banana" on the record stabilizer is a handle as well. Some of the design features on these made other changers look rather basic.

Re: The Voice Of Music Console - Louisville, Ky. - $50
That is nice looking walnut! The price is right as well!
The phono-only models are kind of special to me because that was the only stereo sound available
(excepting R2R) before FM mpx was common by 1963.
The electronics were designed to get the most out of a ceramic stereo cartridge.

The one I had was a tad bigger, used three knobs (volume, tone, balance) and it was to right of changer under lid.
The model pictured seems to have a concentric knob possibly bass and treble?

Portable model I had was similar, very neat styling and it actually sounded pretty good. That is a Syntronic changer as well as my console below. Silvertone - Syntronic record changer
Half the record changers used in Silvertone (sold by Sears and Roebuck) were made by Crescent in mid 60s consoles and portables. Most are very identified by the white cone-shaped control levers on tubed models to the black flat levers on SS models. The console pictured below is of a similar model bu...

Re: Motorola ST-82A stereo AM-FM record player
I have just one used 6C9, that fixed a Silvertone chassis where FM was as dead. It performs fantastically considering the antenna I have it on, better than the Magnavox tuners. The oscillator side of the 6C9 tested so weak, it wouldn't work. RF amp would pass some 10.7 MC through when I connected a ...

Re: RCA Victor tuner chassis RC1192 FM-AM-FM/AM
The RC1192 was in three consoles I've had in my shop, two I have since sold. The next year (1962?) used a different style and tuning eye tube was the "bar type" 6FG6/EM84.
I may find one liberated from a console that can't be restored, there is a major swap meet next month in my area.

Re: Cartridge wiring Magnavox
I used the Tetrad EV 5632 in my Imperial. I like how it sounds. I can understand how wires to the cartridge could get crossed and confused. I have three (!!!) of the Micromatics with the original EV132-150 cartridge and YES indeed, the 5632D will work well. The two I have for sale right now have a ...
