Re: It's raining....
Typical summer steaming 85-95 here - quite humid with dewpoints in 70s and daily rains in localized areas. No talk of drought common when corn isn't high enough, obvious in my location  but localized flooding as ground is saturated. Then both AC units run alternately to keep wife cool and limi...
Re: heat
Lower PA is just as bad, no relief even in the mountains. Living in the same 1800s farmhouse since 1997, we learned where to place 3 window units to keep certain areas cool. If not for some very large trees, this would not have worked too well. In 2013, natural gas became available, so I had two fur...

Re: this can be yours for 1,300 dollars
I bet that guy hires out electronic and record changer repairs, so he's being paid well for the look he created. I swear you make more by painting accent stripes and basically re-designing the looks of these to current trends, while just restoring the electronics like we all do. Sorry, not my game. ...

Re: New truck
Good choice Chris. My Tacoma extended cab has never been in a garage, has 140K and was new 20 years ago. The 4.0 L V6 is tops IMO, reminds me how V8 power usta be, but Toyota engine choices have changed. I hope you get 18-20 mpg like I still do. About 10 years ago, it got a recall to install a new f...

Re: this can be yours for 1,300 dollars
Is that a model 805? If so, I have one and a Voice of Music 815 - Both are good, not worth over $1K!!
I could make it operate and sound (not necessarily look) like original for only 500!

Re: The Bull is back!!
Most of larger metropolitan areas have nothing but news-talk on AM stations, legacy news stations like KYW are pushing their FM frequencies. Simulcasting talk radio on low-power FM frequencies is of limited help because class A - AM will cover a much larger area, day OR night! The only reason may be...

Re: Greetings from Carbondale, Illinois
Welcome to the forum. :D We always like stories about sales and service. In college, I worked as a bench tech at stores that sold Magnavox and others, so I got to see all the brands you mentioned. That '68 may need crossover caps. To get at those, I opened the speaker boxes on a 65 Imperial 1RP701 s...

Re: Webcor stereo
Just a guess - I think it is three channel like Chris said, bass is summed from R+L channels. Philco designed their few 3-channel consoles similarly.
Wish these would show up locally, Webcor was a real good one.
That power transformer and 185 watts on the UL label mean it's got some power!

Re: Magnavox 3FM021 table radio
I do not understand why there is just a 2.2 mmf cap for the crossover feeding two small cone tweeters each rated 3-4 ohms from the 4x8 oval speaker Remember that Maggie's corporate philosophy was "voicing," fiddling with parts & values until it sounded they way they thought it should....

Magnavox 3FM021 table radio
A friend found this little gem at a yard sale years ago. I am preparing to sell it after I acquired an older Magnavox table set that is a REAL beast from Brettzky. All of us know the common Mag radios with a beveled front and tuning meter in the center of a wood panel. These parallelogram-shaped set...

Re: Chassis Power Supply for RCA Victrola Stereo Console VGT 26W
I scrapped a VLT-51, which probably has the same PS chassis. If your transformer primary is open, this is your best option.

Welcome, post a picture of your 1964 model
! My first box full of HiFi guts was a 1960 Motorola when I was 14, never been the same since.

Re: Philco 46-431
My speaker guy is in NJ, which saves postage ;) Sound Remedy - Rich Stamer 331 Virginia Ave Collingswood NJ 08108 Horizontals were found in basements, garages, attics and barns when I was kid in early 70s. And while most folks of even modest means had upgraded to a stereo if they like records enough...

Philco 46-431
I just got a new repair job from a younger enthusiast all about the 1940s and WWII. My camera is not downloading but one can be seen here. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1338651345/1946-philco-radio-model-46-431-restored?show_sold_out_detail=1&ref=nla_listing_details This follows up a 41-280 I had...

Looks as if I need to take that suggestion, second from top is the 33.3 rpm turret, which looks pretty crusty.

Re: RCA RP-218 changer
RP-215/216 have pulley height adjustable by a threaded shaft with 3/8" nut but I don't see one on mine  :? Maybe what you see below is the same and, if so, it may be adjustable only by adding thin spacer washers under the pulley. Ill pull it out later to check but I think motor mount gro...

Re: RCA RP-218 changer
I have a 1963 as well, but haven't gotten around to it. The flat-pack cartridge with "airplane" stylus is likely not good. This speed question plainly gives me an excuse to pull my changer at last ;) The mat is stiff, so I need to get my snap ring pliers to pull the platter and see what is...

Re: Hello fron sw ohio
Welcome Doug, its interesting to hear how repairs went in the early 70s, having entered the trade in late 70's. Then I was a lone voice defending all things using tubes as more serviceable, now happy to be proven right 45 years later! Posting about test equipment is often as interesting as a radio o...
