Re: Philco H1916 - 3 channel with satellite electrostatics
Wow, nice friends! I like the squared off styling of the burgundy models. The burgundy models are also the only ones I've seen featured in sales adds. I don't know where $675 fits in 1960 prices with some of the other manufacturers TOTL like VM, Motorola or RCA. I'm guessing that price would be w/o ...

About a year ago, a much less attractive 67 CE sold local to me. It sold for twice this ask price, in less than a week. You just never know.

Re: Hello
Welcome aboard and thanks for the photos. Seeing the BIC 1000 reminded me of my own journey with a 920. I had it high enough to watch it "do it's thing" through the clear plastic bottom cover. Great memories though it's long since gone to a new custodian.

Re: Opinions wanted on these two listings
I think you're right on this being a 62 Custom Electra in Modern. I'm an EL84 and Fisher fan but I've had better luck with VM changer vs Garrard. In Central IL, Fishers typically command a premium even for later SS models. That's probably why I haven't landed one. Good luck with whichever one you de...

Re: Bendix 95M4U Worthy of scratching Mono curiosity?
Thanks for the links, Mr. Mogul. Here's a photo of the Pilot that is enticing me. The EL84 integrated is a definite plus. Easy to hook up a mono tuner. A 4 hour round trip might not be in the cards until after the holidays, but it's almost all Interstate travel. A bonus is the original paperwork! It...

Bendix 95M4U Worthy of scratching Mono curiosity?
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1093744231727374/?ref=saved&referral_code=null This little unit has been listed locally for some time. I don't have any mono units! It looks like the most expensive (should one need replaced) tube is the 6SN7GT splitter. I don't think I'm up to th...

I wasn't aware that any manufacturer was making consoles in Central Illinois. Decatur is just 1 hour south of me. Learn something new everyday.

$50 Well cared for VM w/tuner - Little Falls NY FBM
This unit looks to be very well cared for and partially functioning. I like the clean lines. The metal lattice might be off putting to some, but I like it on my Philco. Some of the original paperwork. I can make out 12AX7 from the schematic sticking out the envelope. Is that a version of the 1200 se...

Re: Concert Grand - Chicago - $600
The seller has the advantage of a large metro market. "This was Magnavox’s magnum opus and weights well over 100 pounds. Cash and carry please." I thought these were closer to 300#'s. A basement removal and condition may eventually put a damper on the sellers expectations. Interesting that...

Re: $60 Capehart 12CT09-3 w/Glaser-Steers changer - Flint, MI
Would it have a full-stereo tuner, or a stereo-compatible one that required a Multiplex adapter?

Great question. I didn't notice the simulcast tuner until you asked. I like the simulcast tuner on my Philco so my local AM station stays put when adjusting FM.

$60 Capehart 12CT09-3 w/Glaser-Steers changer - Flint, MI
Should have a 12 tube receiver and at 125W consumption probably SE. Interesting floor tile. Not a bad price for a tubed Capehart with GS-77 changer. "Original home, needs a good cleaning. Has not been plugged in to test." https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1192924911770912/?ref=sear...

$500 Florence Knoll amp-less 3 piece Garrard and E-V 12TRXB Noblesville, IN
Interesting Florence Knoll designed 3 piece blonde MCM set up. No amp but does include what looks to be a period correct Garrard changer. She has roots back to Michigan. Don't know if that had anything to do with the choice of Electro-Voice 12TRXB for the speakers. Possibly the purchaser made that d...

Re: German made console theatre
I would love to have a Kuba Komet, though I don't think a restoration would be in the cards. A pair of 1960 Philco Mid/electrostatic speakers, on appropriate stands, would look perfect on each side for a Jetsonian look. There is also an American made Arkay Fantasial, that was inspired by the Komet. ...

Re: Tubed? Sylvania St. Louis, MO $120
You are welcome, Mark. I have had several offers over the years to sell my 225's but the answer was always NO. Sometimes I still wish I had the receiver as well, but my current receiver is about a 20-year-old Carver which I enjoy, and it does what I want it to do. Bill Bill, A pair of 'Sylvania AS-...
