I think I need to contact Gary and get that cartridge for my Motorola SK52W. My Sonotone, I think it is a 9T. It is the gold cartridge that Motorola used, is shot.

Re: 1962 Magnavox Stereo Theater with a busted Theater...
Thanks for keeping us posted, Greg. I wish my RCA Home Theater still had the TV in it. As a console stereo it is great, and when the TV was still in the cabinet it played through the stereo's amplifier and all 8 speakers. I can remember sitting in my grandparents living room listening to LW on the R...

Re: VM 1200 gear assembly issue
Check the arm that the drive tire sits on, make sure it swings freely. It sometimes takes several attempts to get all of the old oil and grease removed from a VM changer. And, it only takes a little to screw things up.

It is unique, Danny, and from me looking at all of the Magnavox brochures I never ran across this model.

Never heard of that brand before but I will definitely check it out. Thanks for the tip. This one: https://www.amazon.com/Gasoila-Free-Eater-Penetrating-Aerosol/dp/B00022VY74/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2YHRK9FPL8AXP&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Oe9TZrS-hQorq7GYlYo2aQt_0wukV7vBAF5xRB7Pu5zkzfmtmaXlOHHUBOlT5ue-HGFrgHRdIp...

Re: Magnavox Quadraphonic Console Cincinnati, Ohio
It looks like there should be a keyboard under the rolltop instead of a stereo. I am guessing not one of Magnavox's higher end units. And, yes, oh my gosh on the price.

Re: VM 1200 gear assembly issue
Only the lower part rotates, and yes, it needs to rotate. I use PB Blaster and soak, soak, soak it. When one is really stuck, and this is after a week of PB Blaster soaking, I will take a pair of Vise Grips, clamp them on, and very slowly start rotating back and forth. I have always had success with...

Re: $600 to fix the garbage disposal
Danny, if it were me I would have an HVAC, one you would trust, come and do a service on your furnace just to make sure everything is ok, and there is not a rusted hole in the heat exchanger. More than likely your furnace is way better built than anything you can buy new and will probably out last a...

Re: Biking on birthday
Well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Chris. I have four years before I catch up to you and I guess only time will tell if I make it or not. Fish taco's, I love fish, sound good but not with jalapeno tartar sauce, that would kill my tummy. Keep riding that bike and enjoying life.

Re: Motorola SK-29M Restoration
Nice job! I wish I had room under my Motorola SK52W to put the filter caps, it is packed with no room to spare. And, it is still sitting on the bench waiting for me to do something with it.

Re: Bach played on a Wanamaker organ
I love Organ Stop, and I miss Charlie Balogh, one of the artists that played there. He was one of the best theater organist around and it was so sad when he passed away a few years ago. Before moving to AZ he owned Good Time Charlies Pizza restaurant in Grand Rapids Michigan which was the home of a ...

Re: Bach played on a Wanamaker organ
No, Chris, the Atlantic City organ is about 2/3 through its restoration which makes the Wanamaker organ the largest playing organ in the world. Although, the Wanamaker organ is not available right now as the new owners, a real estate firm from NY, is totally renovating the Wanamaker building. The Gr...

Re: Bach played on a Wanamaker organ
To quote from the Friends of the Wanamaker Organ: Commanding these huge resources is a massive console with six ivory keyboards and 729 color-coded stop tablets. There are 168 piston buttons under the keyboards and 42 foot controls. The console weighs 2.5 tons; the entire instrument weighs 287 tons....

Re: Bach played on a Wanamaker organ
Yes, I could play either of them. The principal is the same, there is just more of it. Keyboards are keyboards, and stops are stops. The more keyboards there are the more versatile it is to play, and the more stops there are the more sounds or colors there are. The notes on the music remain the same...
