Re: Unknown Motorola

I have seen that cabinet before, and it has the same changer as my not so portable Motorola portable. I bet Dave, Motorola Minion, will know the model number once he sees your post. Nice find by the way and the price was definitely right.

You are making progress one step at a time and hopefully the PT will be just fine. Will you eventually recap the whole set?

That is too bad. Is it possible to locate a PT for it?

Re: Fisher? With Dual Turntable $75 Chicago

If memory serves, Lyon-Healy was a large music store founded in the Chicago area. They sold pianos, organs, other musical instruments, along with other electronic musical things like higher end stereos. The price seems reasonable for a Fisher, I'm guessing it should sell quickly.

I thought the same thing, Elton. Sitting down on it would cause it to move but maybe the castors had a locking mechanism.

That should be a pretty easy change, Mark. If I remember correctly both have 1/2 inch mounting so swapping out should be pretty straightforward and the P-226 will sound nice. Please keep us posted going forward.

It definitely is a unique unit, one that needs to be saved so I am glad someone picked it up and I hope for the right reasons.

Re: Motorola Bench Stereo SK154 $75 Champaign IL

That is an interesting concept, Mark, and it looks like on each end of the center panel there is an opening to let the bass out??? Is this one you will add to your collection? 10 speakers are a lot of speakers for a console, so I bet it sounds good.

Re: 1968 Zenith YT960

I fully understand your statement that you like the Zenith better than the CG, although I have never heard a CG to make that comparison. The Zenith is amazing, the bass will shack the cabinet apart if you turn it too full and have the bass boast on as well. For a console, it is very must like a comp...

That is a very impressive unit, Mark, great score. I am interested in following your restoration and hearing your comments on how it sounds once done. Those power point style cartridges are getting hard to find, I know Gary does not have any 13T's left. All the best, Mark.

I hate to say it, Chris, but they probably went to the scrap metal yard along with everything else that was removable metal.

Re: Old cars: opportunity to spend money

Thanks, Hydro, that brings back memories of my youth. After my Dad passed away, I was eight, in 1959, my Mom purchased a new car as the one they shared together was now 7 years old. The car was a 1959 Pontiac Catalina so seeing this photo reminded me of that car. My other thought, if the owner of th...

Re: 1968 Zenith YT960

If it has the tape deck and is the MCM cabinet, it probably is worth a grand. I have the butt ugly Early American version and the sound will blow you away. Mine is in storage and if the cabinet was not so over the top Early American it would probably be in the house.
