Re: Aloha Moods

In the pipe organ world it would be a Chrysoglott, as noted here:

The term "Chrysoglott" is sometimes used interchangeably with "Celesta" when referring to this type of instrument on a Wurlitzer organ.

Nice looking and direct drive too. The tone are looks a little like the PL-50 I just worked on.

That is a cool catalog, Chris, and your console is definitely a conservative "Mediterranean," I kind of like it.

Nice job, Dennis. So this must have been produced during the war. Interesting that they would be allowed to produce home radios and not swapped over for the war.

Re: Changers versus turntables

Back when CD's first came out and I could still hear well I did not care for them, I thought they sounded tinny, lacked bass, power (I don't mean volume) and what I would call richness. Vinyl filled all those things the CD's lacked. Over the years CD's improved greatly and even though I am old and h...

Thanks, Josh, and just for a refresher, what does the little knob/switch do on top of the snake head?

Re: Ortofon VMS 20e Mk II cartridge

I seem to remember some time ago the cartridge wiring color code was discussed and if memory serves it was you, Chris, that provided the correct color codes. I kind of remember that post of yours so I went Googling and found what you wrote before. I am actually surprised that I remembered, that does...

Re: Ortofon VMS 20e Mk II cartridge

In the world of VM, the color of the wires from the cartridge to the changer are red, which is RH, white, which is LH and black which is common. I am pretty sure red is always RH and while is always LH, but when there are 4 wires I am not sure of the color code for common. I just Googled it and this...

I kind of think checking, "are you human" is kind of funny. I am sure it would not take much for someone to figure out how to make a computer check that box when the question is asked.

Re: Yeah, it works fine. Until it doesn't.....

I too have a Motorola with the wonky stereo light. Sometimes it is on, sometimes it is off but either way I still seem to have stereo coming from the speakers. Mine is hooked to an outside antenna so the signal strength is pretty steady. I guess you have my luck, Greg. It seems every time I am in my...
