Re: VM-1241 ?

Yes, Elton, that spring is WAY too large and not the correct one. There are different springs, it is called the "idler spring," and Gary should have the correct one for you, just provide him with the correct changer number.

Re: Unknown Motorola

You are correct, Chris, white paint is part of a blonde finish.

Re: 1st208F Frankenupgrade

Hydro. Are all three photos of the same unit? If so, then you have already started switching things out? A suggestion, before you swap out the speakers for the horns see how it sounds with the original mids and tweeters, you might be surprised. If you do decide to go with the horns don't forget to c...

Re: Unknown Motorola

Elton. I have used this product numerous times with success. As a matter of fact, it is being used right now on a small Philco console with the painted/faux finish that is peeling on the lid and one side. Interestingly, the wood underneath has a nice Mahogony color to it. I have no idea what kind of...

Re: Unknown Motorola

Wow, that is a beautiful Motorola, Elton and it definitely does not have a painted finish. If you strip off the brown and discover blonde underneath you will have a unique Motorola. I bet there not a lot of those made. Congrats on your find.

Re: TOTL Newcomb TRS-1680 and ext speakers $20

I remember the ones we had at school. They were mono units and were always kept on a cart so they could be easily moved from room to room without picking them up.

Re: Unknown Motorola

Most Motorola stereos have an SK in their model numbers and the HS is part of the chassis number, so it makes sense with what you discovered, Elton. The finish that is on your newest toy looks like it was a factory painted type finish. I have two mono units with that same finish and both of them are...

Re: Unknown Motorola

I have seen that cabinet before, and it has the same changer as my not so portable Motorola portable. I bet Dave, Motorola Minion, will know the model number once he sees your post. Nice find by the way and the price was definitely right.

You are making progress one step at a time and hopefully the PT will be just fine. Will you eventually recap the whole set?

That is too bad. Is it possible to locate a PT for it?

Re: Fisher? With Dual Turntable $75 Chicago

If memory serves, Lyon-Healy was a large music store founded in the Chicago area. They sold pianos, organs, other musical instruments, along with other electronic musical things like higher end stereos. The price seems reasonable for a Fisher, I'm guessing it should sell quickly.

I thought the same thing, Elton. Sitting down on it would cause it to move but maybe the castors had a locking mechanism.

Re: TOTL Newcomb TRS-1680 and ext speakers $20

That should be a pretty easy change, Mark. If I remember correctly both have 1/2 inch mounting so swapping out should be pretty straightforward and the P-226 will sound nice. Please keep us posted going forward.

Re: Motorola Bench Stereo SK154 $75 Champaign IL

That is an interesting concept, Mark, and it looks like on each end of the center panel there is an opening to let the bass out??? Is this one you will add to your collection? 10 speakers are a lot of speakers for a console, so I bet it sounds good.
