Re: 1950s Motorola Hifi, Drexel cabinet model number
C10sean. I hate to tell you this but your Motorola was manufactured in 1960. The inked numbers that are on the tuner, the "8M60", the "60" is the year it was built. Having said that, and from what I have seen with the back off, it looks very similar to my Motorola SK-52W which i...

Wouldn't you guys want him to get as much as possible so all your unrestored stuff is theoretically worth more?
Re: SK-13M
Nice find! I'm noticing the vents on the outer edges of each woofer's mounting board, and the 4 patched-over holes on the bottom of the cabinet. I wonder if all those openings are the result of factory experimentation with bass response? Thanks, the 4 holes on the bottom are for the legs when it sh...

Re: SK-13M
Essentially the same setup as the 93-series Magnavox chassis. Motorola was wise to continue with the 12AX7 audio tubes rather than the 6EU7's Magnavox used. The iron they used in output transformers looks larger than Magnavox. Good luck with the changer restoration. That looks like a keeper... ;) ;...

Re: Symphonic 1260 & 1747
What do they sound like? Chris Campbell I don't like to power them up on the original electrolytics. While going through the mono amp a bad audio transformer was discovered. A donor replacement 6L6GC transformer from a Bogen DB-15 mono block is going in the little symphonic amp. A member here Who l...

Re: Zenith portable inheritance
Did he recommend a retrofit? I have done several and they all worked out just fine. :D Gary offers a Cobramatic kit with a great sounding tetrad ceramic cartridge, requires soldering and glue but sounds fantastic. By now Any NOS astatic cartridges likely sound out of tolerance even with zero miles ...
