Re: Audi A8, unknown year
True enough. But I can say with fair certainty that if you drive a German car for any length of time, you will consider our domestic cars to be wallowing, rattle trap pigs. That little Mini I have does everything so much "better" than even the big Buicks I have owned, there is simply no co...

Audi A8, unknown year
Long story short, my Mini is in the body shop. Again. It spends more time in the body shop than it does on the road. There has been enough spent on body work to nearly pay for the car. This time, a guy at the detail shop let it get away from him exiting the car wash, so he hit a curb, pretty hard, w...

Re: 1964 Zenith MM2670
Charles, would you like for me to correct the year in the title? I believe the time has expired for you to do it, and I'll be happy to do it.

Re: General Electric changer
I wonder if there is a market for something like this changer. Shipping would probably cost more than the changer is worth. I'll get a set of motor mounts and a needle for it then see what I have. I'm not in love with this changer, so I'm not going to put a lot of time or money into it.

Re: General Electric changer
It certainly appears to me that the cartridge is glued in. It is obvious that the headshell is made for a 1/2" mount cartridge. The original cartridge was possibly an Astatic 132, which is a "low output" cartridge of approximately .35 volts. I have had the changer since 1987 when my s...

I don't remember where I got this amp. Probably in some junk at an auction. I don't think I'd have bought it "on purpose".....

Re: General Electric changer
I already checked that bearing. It was dry, but it looked good. There is no rumble as long as the motor is not running. The platter is one that coasts for some time after the motor stops since the drive tire is disengaged from the platter and the motor. I can spin the platter by hand and the record ...

Re: General Electric changer
I have a real mechanic's stethoscope, so that is a good idea, Chris. Why couldn't I pull the platter, pull the drive tire from the motor shaft, then set the tone arm on the metal motor board? That would pick up noise from the motor. It's not all that bad using small speakers, but if I connect a set ...

Realistic (Radio Shack) SA-155 Integrated Stereo Amp
I have one of these little amps I use for a bench amp, for testing changers and stuff. I connected this little amp with 1.8 watts per channel to a set of Fisher speakers I have. This little amp has enough power to actually make the big Fisher speakers rattle in their cabinets. I am impressed with th...

Re: General Electric changer
I got this changer out this afternoon to do some tinkering. I didn't have to remove the changer from the base, just pulled the bottom off the base and went to work. I had secured the tone arm before I plopped the changer upside down on the bench, on top of my styrofoam repair base I dug out of the t...

There were 3684 users online in a five-minute period last evening on the forum, about 8 pm our time. This is almost 100 times the normal traffic we see on our small forum. I have, as of this morning, cancelled/deleted/otherwise disposed of thousands of potential "new members" who have regi...

Re: Coffee table consoles?
GE and Admiral both made coffee table stereos. There is usually at least one on ebay, but not right now.... ;) Here is an ad for a GE stereo with a Garrard turntable..... https://www.ebay.com/itm/267228179103?_skw=coffee+table+stereo&itmmeta=01JSN0F1G0KF1FVVJ8NABDYWKZ&hash=item3e380a6a9f:g:R...

Should the forum get slow.....
The forum is currently being bombarded by spammers again (or maybe still). There were over 1400 users online during the previous five minutes here a couple minutes ago. We had a record of 3412 online during a five minute period on Monday last. There are individuals, perhaps being paid to do it, who ...

Re: A new Toyota?
"Professional" people don't like being serious anymore. They want the quick buck. You are asking for something that may cause them extra work to find. They have an "up" on the lot who will accept whatever they have. Have you thought about contacting some of the really large deale...

Re: Greetings from a Collector in Virginia
A friend bought a Zenith radio/record player (model number forgotten  ) with the Radionic cartridge. Other than having to replace the cartridge to change the needle, I thought the changer was neat. Had the variable speed drive setup. The Radionic part isn't so great, IMHO, but it was built lik...

You did well, Josh! Thank you so much! We look forward to seeing your projects and helping you see then come to success. I see you have a Zenith changer in your avatar. Do you have a device that uses that changer? :D :D Make yourself at home and feel free to post often. I think you have one more pos...
