Re: Marvin AM/FM Record Player Louisville, Ky. $40
That is the first Marvin stereo I have seen! ;) :D I'm guessing it's tube. It has FM AFC, so it might be later than mid-1961. It also has built-in stereo decoder, something Magnavox never had in tube stereos. Other than the fake wood trim lifting on the knobs, it looks to be in really nice condition...

The Bull is back!!
This will mean nothing to anyone but me, but I am excited to have this station available once again. On Thursday last, I fired up my old Stromberg-Carlson radio set to this station and nothing was there. On Saturday, I was tinkering with the Truetone radio with SMD and found Western Red as strong as...

Re: Sports car guys?
My stepdad had an MG engine in a homebuilt aircraft project back in the 1960's. I wanted a Midget when they were new, but I'm grateful I never owned one. They were not very good cars.

Re: New Vista RCA VGT 90 W K
If removing the lid would decrease the chance of dropping something or of damaging the lid, then you might be better to remove it. Just be careful with not stripping the threads. IF you do strip the threads, you can use a toothpick or match stick inserted in the hole to repair the threads. You might...

Ohio, IIRC. One of my recommended vendors. I haven't gotten them yet, so I shall withhold praise for a more appropriate time.

Re: Truetone D 2237B ....SMD?
I may have located a couple new IF transformers for this set. The second IF I need for sure. I will keep the other one for a spare. SMD repair is not always successful.

Re: SK111W-FMA restore
That Olympic is nice! I think I'd be prone to putting a stereo changer in it. I've tried Bluetooth, and I can see why people like it. But for me, someone who uses a cellphone for an appliance, not a lifestyle, it is more trouble than it's worth. If I put Bluetooth on my old stereo, what do I do with...

Re: Old JVC/ Nivco
My car has a NipponDenso alternator on it. Would that company be a distant relative of JVC/Nivco?

Re: Old JVC/ Nivco
If it has FM, it uses one of those confusing dial markings like Stromberg-Carlson used.... It has a VM changer, which is always good. I don't know what your offer was, but she will keep that thing a long time for what she is asking. You could easily put over $100 in the changer, since it not only ne...

Re: SK111W-FMA restore
I have suspected alignment and antenna efficiency as being a part of the stereo light issue, but, like you, I hesitate to mess with that. I figure a wonky stereo light is just part of its personality......

Re: New Vista RCA VGT 90 W K
Does anybody know what those two sand resistors under the external speaker switch are for? I'm guessing something to do with the earphone jack, maybe?

Matt, you and I may be in the "failure to hit 'submit'" club. I have a bad habit of posting, maybe even including pictures, but I only give the "submit" button a passing glance. So, then, my post does not "take". Make sure when you are ready to post, that you really do ...

Re: New Vista RCA VGT 90 W K
You may be able to spray those controls if you have a straw on your can of contact cleaner. See if you can see a slot on the round body of the controls. That slot will have a phenolic block with wires connected to it. That is where you want to squirt your cleaner, in that slot. Manipulate the contro...

Re: New Vista RCA VGT 90 W K
Built the 34th week of 1965? Those numbers on the power transformer may or may not be useful. I realize this is not a very good answer, but, depending on the parts source you are talking to, they may want the chassis number instead if you were to have to buy a new one. If this was a tube stereo, we ...

Re: New Vista RCA VGT 90 W K
It looks to me like you may have to remove the knobs and the bezel to get at the controls. It may be the case that you will have to remove the chassis to clean the controls. In any case, the knobs should be able to be pulled straight up and off. It should then be obvious how the bezel comes off. If ...
