Re: B&K 1077 TV analyzer

I can't help but believe I am overlooking something. I have done all this work, but haven't found anything really wrong yet. How drifted can resistors be in the vertical section? 5%? 10%? The schematic doesn't specify. I know in a TV you want the vertical components to be pretty much spot on. While ...

Re: Sears Silvertone table radio, model 5021

Bell wire makes good wire for hardwiring a printed board. Not all that tough, just tedious. The GE stereo I did for Don had about half the amp chassis hardwired and it's been running just fine for at least ten years now. My problem with running traces looking for a breach is something my eyesight is...

Re: B&K 1077 TV analyzer

I know now for relatively sure that the issue is not in the yoke, nor in those 560 ohm resistors in the yoke. I pulled the CRT, took it all apart, checked the coils both visually and with an ohmmeter and they appear to be okay. I changed both resistors. One measured 610 ohms, the other measured 591 ...

Re: Sears Silvertone table radio, model 5021

Since it always possible that something weird, out of the ordinary, may be going on, I asked about the interlock. Might it be possible that the interlock which is fairly rigid in the back, might be flexing the PCB enough that it is breaking a trace to the filter caps. You might take a good look at t...

Re: B&K 1077 TV analyzer

I don't know what to do next. Every component in the vertical circuit checks fine. I have run jumper wires to make sure there are no bad traces. I wonder if the specs I have for the voltages on the 13GF7 are right. I have 87 VDC on the plate of the vertical oscillator. There is a 220K ohm resistor c...

Re: B&K 1077 TV analyzer

Changing the 10uf@ 450 VDC boost filter cap again did nothing. Changing the .1uf @ 1000 volt cap actually did help with vertical deflection, but on the top side. I was able to turn the height control down considerably, which is a step in the right direction. The white line is decreased, and I'm conv...

Re: B&K 1077 TV analyzer

Low boost voltage.....  Supposed to have 210 volts on pin 8, the plate, of the vertical oscillator. I have 75 VDC. The schematic does not give the boost voltage, per se, but I have 475 Volts at the flyback transformer, yet only 75 at that plate. There are two caps, one 10uf electrolytic ...

Re: B&K 1077 TV analyzer

I found this video. My instrument may not be as broke as I thought. The white line may be overscanning. I think I still have a problem, but it may not be as serious as I feared. Stand by.....

Does that cabinet use an interlock on the power cord?

Re: B&K 1077 TV analyzer

And you would be correct. ;) I don't know why someone would hang out their shingle, ready for business, then be such a pain to do business with. Why respond when you have no intention of supplying service? This guy's response was what prompted my idea to try one more time. I have to be overlooking s...

Re: B&K 1077 TV analyzer

I posted on the "big forum" about maybe seeing could I get another Analyzer. I had a reply, from a frequent poster on that forum, a man who allegedly supplies parts and equipment, (Bill, you know who I'm referring to). The likelihood of this individual ever seeing if he has one and then ac...

Re: End Table Stereo

I think on that outfit you would put one cabinet on one end of the couch, the other on the other end of the couch. That would be your channel separation. It might sound really good..... ;)

Re: Sears Silvertone table radio, model 5021

I'm not sure I understand why they used two different output tubes. Admiral and GE liked using 50HK6, 50HC6 and 35GL6 output tubes that nobody ever heard of and nobody else used. This radio uses low-filament-amperage tubes. There is a 5.2 ohm hum-bucking coil on the HK6 end of the output transformer...

Re: B&K 1077 TV analyzer

My guess is that if I need a yoke, it probably should be attached to a different instrument..... ;) The thing that has me thinking about having a shorted yoke is the bright white line at the bottom of the raster. Since that is an ultra-violet CRT, it shouldn't display a bright white line at all. Som...

Re: Marie Mueller's Buick

The cars Marie and I were what she called "cousins". They had the same paint, DuPont Centari "99A", "the blackest black" according to Art, who painted both cars. We attended many of the same shows, and we liked to park next to each other. Both cars had "Arthurized&...

Re: Marie Mueller's Buick

The guy on the video I linked bought it, apparently. I have no idea what he had to give for it. Other than being a one-owner car, it was not really that desirable of a car. It was a Special, with few options. Radio and antenna, whitewall tires, full wheel covers, heater and defroster were about the ...

Re: Marie Mueller's Buick

I've done a lot of work to Marie's Buick. God love you if you got a fingerprint on it. I had to cover it with a car cover, then turn it back enough to work on the car, covered by approved fender covers. The car was a standard shift car, unusual for a Buick. The torque ball seal had to be specially m...

Re: B&K 1077 TV analyzer

I worked on this thing all day today. It's better, but still not enough vertical deflection to fill the screen completely. The bottom one third of the screen doesn't give any response. Reading online about these things, about all that is left is that it has a shorted turn in the windings of the yoke...

Re: Marie Mueller's Buick

That '63 Bonne is one of Bill's favorite cars. That wagon is ultra-loaded. I have a picture of Marie with her Buick, but that picture was the closest on hand. It was taken at Art's memorial service when she was 93. I don't know how that link got messed up. Try this.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...
